Description
The endless abstraction and βanything goesβ of the art world tends to constrict rather than free my creative mind.
I like a wrong and a right to guide me, and portraiture does just that!
With that being said, this workshop is all about messing with the rules of traditional portraiture and having a bit of fun with unexpected pops of colour!
Over the course of this 2 day workshop we will work on an acrylic portrait from beginning to end, starting with our initial drawing and finishing up with layers of glazing and critique.
A big part of this process is all about having the courage to make mistakes, see your mistakes and then coaxing our painting into what feels more correct.
Each student will need to provide an image to paint, a canvas to paint on, and the desire to learn.
Beginner? Not a problem! Experienced artist? We can add some exciting new skills to your arsenal of techniques. Please note that if you are a beginner I HIGHLY recommend you paint a complete stranger for your portrait. Painting someone you love will simply make your learning that much harder.
