Description
This two-day workshop covers De Gillett Cox’ unique self-developed contemporary techniques in making bold, vibrant paintings
Learn a layered approach from Master Artist De and her daughter Ali, with breath-taking results.
De will provide the images we will can choose from in this workshop, as this is the best way to ensure all participants acquire the skills to carry on building beautiful negative paintings after the workshop, as well as go home with a stunning completed painting.
We will be laying in the darks with a colour rub first, then stencilling and palette knifing across that to create the subjects of our paintings. You use the first layer to establish runs, spatter and colour variation, before obscuring the parts of the image you don’t want with opaque paint. The contrast of transparency and opacity is breathtaking!
The steps are: Gesso, colour rub, stencilling with and without spatter (Gesso soup) followed by knife work and glazing.
Beginner? Not a problem! Experienced artist? We can add some exciting new skills to your arsenal of techniques. Click through to the no-obligation INFORMATION PACKAGE to find out more about this workshop
